Simple Church
My husband and I have been interested in simple/organic church for quite some time. One of the blogs I follow posted a video today. Click here to get a better idea of what it's all about.
Brad and I have chatted about the notion of Simple Church with our buddies down in Nashville, TN. {well, me more than Brad}. Though I'm not sure if they are online members like you and B. They seem to be in a similar situation and are looking at the other avenues of "church." They also have really nice, core group of people... a small community of sorts. Hey, whatever works for you and Byron is the most important part!! I've been doing a lot of reading about co-housing and intentional communities. Brad isn't as on board with co-housing as I am. He says we already have a "community" in our neighborhood- our church. I realize intentional communities is not exactly the same concept of Simple Church. But there is some overlap, in my opinion.
Yeah, you've told me about your friends before. I'm not sure how your friends do things, but I don't think the whole simple church idea is the same as the co-housing thing, but I guess I can see why you think there is some overlap. We see it as more of "doing church" like the they did in the book of Acts. It's not about the building and the structure/hirarchy, but the people and living out our faith in every aspect of our lives together.
The co-housing idea is neat. Byron and I have talked about it briefly before, but agreed it was not practical to raise a family in. It's funny, part of us wants to be part of close-knit community and the other part of us wants to move into the country and farm. It sounds like you and Brad do have a good thing going with your church being so close, though.
